Extreme kayaking world championship in Austria, river Otztaler Ache - section Wellerbrucke.

Here is an extract from the start list that reads like the who’s who of the international whitewater community: Tao Berman (USA) himself; Sam Sutton (NZL) who won about every extreme race, at which he started in 2008. He has no slalom background and only started paddling four years ago; Honza Lasko (CZE), winner of the TEVA Mointain Games 2008, Michele Ramazza (ITA) a former slalom crack; Fabian Dörfler (GER), slalom world champion 2005, world cup winner 2005 and 2007 and European Champion, Julien Billaut (FRA), slalom world champion 2006 and world cup winner 2006, Andraz Krpic (SLO), winner of the Sandiline X-Race 2007 and the Soca Riverace 2008, Gerd Serrasolses (ESP) and last but not least Austria’s local hero Gerhard Schmid (AUT), bronze medallist at the 2008 WW Descent World Championship.

The adidas Sickline is back. In 2007 unfortunately the adidas Sickline was canceled due to a high water level. It was titled by "best kayak event without kayaking". After some changes the World’s best whitewater kayakers will meet between 1 - 5 October 2008 in Austria’s Ötztal for a special kind of challenge: adidas Sickline – the extreme Kayak World Championship. At the famous Wellerbrücke, the Ötz river holds one of the most sophisticated whitewater sections on earth, thus the perfect setting to determine the world’s best extreme kayakers.
