This video chronicles the first of two missions into the box canyons of the middle yuba. We did the first d of the box canyons 2 and 3 in April '08 and this is the story. Box canyon 1 waited for a fall release and is featured in my EF kaweah first descent video.

The Great Ride Open: Glamis

The crew will start in San Diego and head south to Imperial Valley, California. This is the heart of the California Desert with many known and unknown riding zones to be found. The caravan will depart from Jeff Tilton’s house in Lakeside California and move to the sand dunes of Glamis. The Glamis sand dunes are a famous location; some that has been ridden a lot and some that is pretty much unexplored. The sand dunes are constantly changing so riding here is always new.

The surf had been raging for days and the entire town of Santa Cruz was abuzz with the first coming of the Greatwhite 2009 Surf Series contests to be held at the Lane. With the Cold Water Classic right around the corner, the buzz seamed extra tingley and everyone from the mini Groms to the Pro rippers were frothing at the chance of getting the lane with nothing but a few competitors sharing the waves. All divisions rapidly filled, as mini grom questions were slung with rapid fire, "what, when, where, do you have any wax?". Standard operating procedure for the super Groms, who started things off with the first heats of the day.

09.10 Opening Day

Opening Oct. 29th, 2009, Mountain High continues the thirteen-season trend of being the first SoCal resort to open. This also marks the resort's earliest opening on machine-made snow. Mountain High's Faultline Terrain Park put out a variety of classic features as well as a few new signature jibs, and received great feedback from MHR regulars as well as Pro Team riders Cory Cronk and Louie Vito who were on hand for opening weekend. Looks like it's shaping up to be another great season at Mountain High, Wrightwood, CA.
