Sixteen Mexican surfers were given the chance to compete the Squalo Trials contest with the winning earning a spot in the main event against Kelly Slater.<br><br /> Congratulations to Puerto Escondido 22-year-old Oscar Moncada for winning the Squalo Trials and becoming the first Mexican to compete an ASP WCT. Two teams of tow-in surfers (Scott Chandler, Chuck Patterson, Carlos 'Coco' Nogales, Ken 'Skindog' Collins, Chad Jackson) went out at first light in what many are calling the biggest Mexican Pipeline in years.
