Rip Curl Pro 2009: Semi-Final Highlights

The Rip Curl Pro started with 48 surfers, but when the semi-finalists lined up on Friday afternoon we were down to four... Joel Parkinson, Jordy Smith, Adam Robertson and Fred Patacchia. In semi-final, Parko and Smith matched up in one of the most highly anticipated heats of the event. Parko raised his game again and knocked out the South African. In Semi 2, local Vicco surfer Adam Robertson pulled off a dramatic win over Freddy P in the final 5 minutes. Clutch.

Rip Curl Pro 2009: Quarter-Final Highlights

The surf was pumping for the Quarter-Finals and the match-ups were stacked. Eventual Rip Curl Pro champion Joel Parkinson defeated CJ Hobgood, Jordy Smith took down Mick Fanning, Adam Robertson knocked out Kekoa Bacalso and Fred Patacchia defeated Kieren Perrow. Huge!

Rip Curl Pro 2009: Virgin Blue Mile High Expression Session

Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater, Taylor Knox and Kekoa Bacalso were some of the ASP World Tour's Top 45 that took to the water in Virgin Blue rashvest to express themselves in the Virgin Blue Mile High Expression Session on Friday afternoon. With $1000 up for grabs, the money was split between Slater and Fanning tying for 1st place.

Rip Curl Pro 2009: Round 3 Highlights

The first three heats of Round 3 were held in epic 4-6ft Bells Beach conditions with CJ Hobgood, Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning all advancing through to the quarterfinals. The contest was moved to Winkipop for Heat 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, with classic waves on offer all afternoon for the remaining surfers. Also making it through to the quarters were Jordy Smith, Adam Robertson, Kekoa Bacalso, Kieren Perrow and Fred Patacchia.

Rip Curl Pro 2009: Round 2 (Heats 13-16)

After smashing through 12 of the 16 Round 2 heats on Tuesday April 14, the contest restarted on Thursday morning in classic Bells Beach conditions. The final four heats were held in clean 4-6ft surf and stiff offshore winds at Bells, with Jay Thompson knocking out Taj Burrow, Kieren Perrow beating Tim Reyes, Dean Morrison taking down Adrian Buchan and Freddy P defeating David Weare.
