2009 VOLKL BRIDGE SKI REVIEW

2009 Volkl Bridge

As the name implies, the Bridge between big mountain and park riding. The graphic borrows a little from both big-mountain and park-specific designs. The shape is 130-92-112mm, for the skier who wants a ski that rides great in the park, yet still has the width and strength to take on really deep conditions.

2009 VOLKL CHOPSTICK SKI REVIEW

2009 Volkl Chopstick.

The all-new Chopstick, with its symmetrical 148-128-148 shape and ELP, is designed to enhance switch takeoffs and landings in deep snow, backcountry situations. Its also an incredible ride in deep powder, with a sublime blend of float and smearing capability. This will be the model that Dash Longe will use while filming for TGR later on this winter.

Volkl Bridge Twin Tip Ski Review

Bridge the gap between big mountain and park riding with the all-new 2008 Volkl Bridge Skis. For the skier who wants a ski that will ride great in the park, yet still have the width and strength to take on the big mountain, the Volkl Bridge sets the mark high. If you’re worried about getting enough grip in your turns with such a feather-light ski, don’t worry—Volkl’s Power Construction technology gives you all the stability you need to carve hard, while the Dual Layer Sensorwood Core keeps the weight airy enough to float through the pow. With the versatile Volkl Bridge Ski you don’t have to decide ahead of time whether you’d rather tackle tricks in the park or head out for some deep-powder skiing—just cross that Bridge when you get to it.

Volkl GS Racing Titanium Ski Review

Winner of the ski industry’s largest festival ski award, the GS Powerswitch is a refined, tuneable and accessible - plus extremely fine looking and well manufactured - ski.

With Volkl’s new three way “Powerswitch” you can vary the performance of the ski considerably. Without the switch on, i.e. in the “Cruise” position the GS ‘Tigers are not what you would call passive but they are manageable and more versatile in tricky conditions such as ill-prepared slopes or poor white-light conditions. As you begin to feel more confident with the conditions or terrain you can pump up the carbon rods within the ski to “Dynamic” and instantly there is more feedback, improved grip and a higher level of performance - in fact I loved the dynamic position for general freeskiing as you feel the ski is lively but not that aggressive that it adversely effects your skiing enjoyment if the going gets a little tougher. Not having the chance on this particular model to try the “Power” on switch I can only imagine that the grip will be even more intensified and unless you are feeling particularly lively, or the conditions are particularly good, then the “Dynamic” is a fine compromise.

Volkl AC30 Unlimited 2009 Ski Review

The AC30 is still one of the best performing expert level “ski everything” skis, but remember it says “Volkl” on them and they do not tolerate bad technique (although we did ski them with a more “classic stance” and they will submit to some “Old School” turns and the dreaded “Christy” for those that just don’t want to give it up).

Volkl Attiva Fuego Ski Review

Volkl combined the Women's Attiva S5 Titanium Ski with the Marker Attiva Motion iPT 11.0 Binding so you can tear it up at the resort. A soft flex and light weight make this setup a hardcore carver's dream. Dual titanium sheet construction and a wood core give the S5 Ski race-like strength that howls down the mountain. The Attiva women's-specific design uses Volkl's 20/20 theory—making the core 20% softer and 20% lighter to accommodate women's balance and weight distribution. The Attiva tip design gives the shovel a low profile for easy turn initiation and reduced swing weight. This creates lightning-quick edging and full use of the entire ski edge.
