French daredevil, Alian Robert, scales New York Times building

Alain Robert, the French "spiderman" skyscraper climber has been taken into custody after scaling the New York Times building in midtown Manhattan to draw attention to global warming.

During his ascent, Alain Robert unfurled a banner about global warming and his website http://www.thesolutionissimple.org/. Construction workers cheered.

Police took him into custody at the top of the new 52-story tower, designed by Renzo Piano.

In February, the daredevil, who's nicknamed "Spiderman," scaled a 42-floor building in Brazil.

Alain Robert (born August 7, 1962 in Digoin, Saône-et-Loire (71) - Bourgogne, France as Robert Alain Philippe) is a French rock and urban climber. Nicknamed after the Marvel Comics character "Spider-Man," or "The Human Spider" he is famous for scaling skyscrapers.

Dean Potter Free-Solos 40-foot overhanging crack, Heaven (5.12d/13a), Yosemite

In August 2005, Patagonia Ambassador Dean Potter free-soloed Heaven (5.12d/13a), a 40-foot overhanging crack that starts over 2,500 feet above the Yosemite Valley floor. Heaven was first freed by Ron Kauk in the mid-90s. Other notable Potter free-solos include Separate Reality (5.11d/12a), Astroman (5.11c), and Dog's Roof (5.12b). Dean Potter is the only person to free climb Yosemite's Half Dome and El Cap in a single day. In Patagonia, he made the first ever free solo of the Supercanaleta on Fitz Roy, followed with the Compressor Route on Cerro Torre, becoming the first to solo both peaks.

The name given to a small cluster of peaks and walls in remote northern Canada, near the border of the Yukon and Northwest Territories. The Lotus Flower Tower, publicized in the book Fifty Classic Climbs of North America is perhaps the most well known climb there. It is also home to the awesome Mt. Proboscis, an amazing granite tower with easiest free route a fifteen pitch 5.12a!
