Sofia Mulanovich was the standout surfer all week at the Rip Curl Girls Festival and her final hurdle on the way to the title was Brazilian ripper Silvana Lima in the final. Silvana was in great form all week, but the Mulanovich was just too good on her backhand and slashed her way to a comfortable and deserved win. Congratulations Sofia!

It suprised everyone, but current world #1 Stephanie Gilmore had to paddle out for Round 2 after losing her opening heat of the Rip Curl Girls Festival at Liencres Beach in Spain. Although Steph scored a low 6.30 points in her first heat, she hit back with avengance in Round 2, totalling the highest score of the event so far - 17.00 out of 20.00. Check out the highlights!

Hawaiian teenager Alana Blanchard upset a quality field of European surfers to win the Rip Curl Pro Junior at Liencres Beach on the eve of the Rip Curl Girls Festival. The win earns Alana the Wildcard entry into Round 1 of the ASP World Tour event.

French phenom Pauline Ado finished runner-up in the event, giving her the 2007 ASP Europe Pro Junior title over defending champion Anne Lee Curren (yep, Tom Curren's daughter)
