The man who's just achieved the 'impossible' of a push loop into front loop, Brazilian rider Kauli Seadi, talks us through the move, one that marks without any doubt a new era of windsurfing.
"So basically, this move was finally nailed... Many sailors have thought about the move without managing to accomplish it. I have seen video footage of Ricardo Campello trying it once in Lanazarote and it looked insane, so I always felt like trying but was afraid. This summer I started riding motocross and I realized that the risk for us windsurfers to get hurt is much smaller as we fall on the water... Then I came to Maui, for a few days there was just jumping going on so I decided to try something new... I set that move as my target !!!

It's the Windy Season on Long Island! A departing storm and approaching high pressure formed a tight gradient and powered W to NW winds in the 25-35 mph range, with the requisite gusts and lulls. A blow-out tide meant lower water levels, with loads of flatwater (for Mike Burns & other freestylers to play in) between sandbars and 2-4' waves on the outside. Big rollers up to 5-6' were found in the Northeast corner for big backside port tack riding and giant starboard air.

Trying to keep sailing with a broken U-joint, on the worst possible gear: heavy rig, teak booms (very, very heavy). Too bad this guy got in the way for me to keep sailing, but still, was fun.

Yo, decided to put together my oldest Windsurfer bits and take it out in strong winds. Teak booms, a patched-up sail, and so on.

What a fight... I could not even tie the booms properly - didn't know how.

At least, proves that anything can be ridden, even freestyled... Was fun!
