Makapu'u Sessions (S4W19)

Every once in a while, Makapu'u offers some fun waves on Oahu. When town is small and we know there are some wind swells, we take trips to the East side. Only draw back is that you cannot surf there when lifeguards are around, so we need to go there in the morning or after 5pm.

The Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, the opening stops on the 2012 Men's and Women's ASP World Championship Tours, today whittled the field down to the just eight men and four women with the world's best surfers tested in tricky two-to-three foot (1 metre) surf at Snapper Rocks.

Joel Parkinson 10pt wave - 2012 Quiksilver Pro

Joel Parkinson (AUS), 30, two-times Quiksilver Pro event Champion posted the event's first perfect 10-point-ride in 2012 in his afternoon Round 5 match. Parkinson battled Julian Wilson (AUS), 23, for a Quarterfinal berth in glassy conditions this afternoon and the local natural-footer was in unbeatable form.

Alessa Quizon (S4W18)

Alessa Quizon has been busy this year traveling and competing in major events. She was home for few days before she left to Rio de Janeiro for a CT event she got in as a wildcard. I sat down with her to talk about what's been going on in her life and what plans she has for the future.

I think 2012 will be her year to blow up and the world is finally going to see Alessa's real talent.

HSA Hawaii State Championships at Bowls (S4W17)

HSA (Hawaii Surfing Association) had it's State Championships at Ala Moana Bowls this past week. Surfers who qualified from every island were all here on Oahu to compete in this special event.

There was a super fun size swell and kids were killing it out there. it's amazing how kids get better at surfing every time i see them.

Late Season North Shore Swell - Ezekiel Lau and Keanu Asing

We had a nice late season North Shore swell over the weekend. I went up to North Shore with Ezekiel Lau and Keanu Asing on Sunday to film. Finally we had a successful weekend!

We started at Haleiwa then Pipe and finished our day at Haleiwa. Keanu had to leave after Pipe tho. Too bad because afternoon Haleiwa was really good.

Free Surf Sessions, March 2012 (S4W13)

There were some fun waves in town in March for Hawaii's young surfers to have fun. Here are some highlights.

Surfer Magazine released their Hot 100 but i know for fact they missed some of these kids. Few of them don't even have sponsors and still surf better than their Hot 100 list. It's time for mainland companies to open their eyes and start helping more Hawaii kids.

Volcom VQS Pufferfish Surf Series at Makaha (S4W12)

Volcom held its Pufferfish VQS Surf Series event at Makaha last weekend. It was perfect Makaha for everyone. Fun rippable waves, sunny and as always, beautiful. Volcom guys were giving away goodies all day for the kids too. Kids were surfing amazing out there negotiating Makaha's famous backwash.

S4W11: NSSA Hawaii Regional Championships at Kewalos

NSSA Hawaii held it's regional championships at Kewalos on Oahu this past week. There were some fun size waves all 3 days for kids to perform. It was nice to see Hawaii's top young surfers going against each other.

S4W10 North Shore Surfshop Pipeline Pro Jr Sea Hawaii Pipeline Womens QS and Pro Jr

What an action packed 2 days! Sea Hawaii held it's Pipeline Women's 1 star QS and 2 star Pro Jr event on one day and North Shore Surfshop held its Men's Pipeline 2 star Pro Jr event the next day. The swell direction was little weird so the actual event was held at Gums instead of Pipe. Due to a storm we had water was brown and waves were choppy at times but over all, they scored some great waves.
