A heavy snowfall has led to the cancellation of flights into Jomsom, so our team is stuck there for another night. The plane is unable to land on the snow-covered runway. As Chris Booth explains in this Podcast, despite the inconvenience, the boys are happy to have electricity, phones and a toilet that flushes.

Rousseau Takes Moguls Title at Worlds

Rip Curl Himalaya Search presented by Sprite: Day 2 - Visiting the Monkey Temple in Kathmandu

Feb 10 was devoted to searching the city of Kathmandu and the famous Buddhist temple - Swayambunath (better known as the Monkey Temple). Watch the boys walk the temple and listen to Per Loken talk about the unique experience.

Now, with trekking permits in hand, Booth and the Rip Curl team will continue on their trip to Jomson, in the northern region of the country, to begin another altitude acclimatization period. Reports show that it is currently snowing even at low altitudes in the Himalaya - conditions that are very rare for this time of year in the region – so heliskiing options are looking very favourable.

Rip Curl Himalaya Search presented by Sprite: Day 1 - The team arrives in Nepal

Per Loken, Chris Booth, Darius Heristchian and Baptiste Collomb Patton arrived in Nepal after their first week of acclimatisation in Switzerland. Despite some lost luggage problems which were swiftly resolved, a smooth trip was had by all. Sunday was a day devoted to discovering the city of Kathmandu and its inhabitants.

Most notable was a visit to the famous Buddhist temple SWAYAMBUNATH - better known as the Monkey Temple. Per, Darius, Baptiste and Chris received the benediction of the monks who honoured them with a “third eye” (NOT to be confused with Rip Curl’s own Third Eye goggle which the team will be using to film video sections for this very site).
