The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge is a 3.5-mile road race and participants enter as part of a company team. A minimum of four employees from each company are required and there is no maximum, though several races in the 2006 Series reached full capacity shortly after entries opened and are expected to do so again in 2007.
The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge has been run annually since 1977 when the concept launched with one race in New York 's Central Park. A total of 200 runners from 50 companies entered that debut event. Now the Corporate Challenge is the largest road race in almost every market it visits. In fact, in 2006 demand for entries exceeded supply in several cities, including Boston, Chicago, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, New York and Singapore.
While JPMorgan Chase's primary objective with the Corporate Challenge is to promote fitness in the workplace, there is a significant charitable component within the Series with JPMorgan Chase making a donation for every entry to not-for-profit organizations. In 2006, the Series was named the "Charitable Event of the Year" by U.S. Track and Field.
All companies interested in taking part in the 2007 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series should visit the home page of the city in which they want to race for entry instructions and specific information. The city home pages can be accessed via the schedule that appears in the left column of most pages on this web site.
“Entering the Corporate Challenge is good for you, your company and the community,” said marathon legend Grete Waitz, the ambassador for the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series. “It may be the easiest decision you'll have to make at work all year.”
