GOING FOR THE GOLDEN PADDLE
With four- to six-foot waves, five teams of the most competitive water women on the planet, an array of watercrafts from rafts to inner tubes, tug-of-war rope and dodge balls, the First Annual O'Neill Team Challenge was on at Pupukea. Teams of about eight girls were divided up by brand name: Team O'Neill, Team Billabong, Team Roxy, Team Rip Curl and Team Snap (comprised of Serena Brooke, Claire Bevilacqua, Sarah Beardmore, Layne Beachley and Linda Fischer). They were determined to beat each other no matter what it took.
