major winter storm drops up to 18 inches of new SNOW on colorado resorts…and, it’s still snowing heavily
heavy snowfall anticipated through Wednesday evening, Colorado ski resorts are only halfway through this major winter storm and already resorts are reporting more than 18 inches of fresh powder blanketing the mountains today.
A winter storm warning is in effect across the state through Wednesday evening with another two feet of powder possible. Reminiscent of last year’s monster late-November snowstorm, Colorado’s latest winter storm has snow piling up as quickly as an inch an hour at some resorts.
As of 12:30p.m. today, Aspen/Snowmass is reporting continued heavy snowfall and more than 2 feet of fresh powder. With nearly 80 inches of snow falling at its summit since October 10th, Steamboat is also reporting continuous heavy snowfall and 16 inches powder in the last 30-hours. And, in the southwest portion of the state, Durango has received 13 inches of new snow with this storm and 73 inches of snowfall since September.
