The Wonderland Project is the name that two friends gave their shared goal: to run the Wonderland Trail,circumnavigating Washington's Mt. Rainier in a single 24-hour period. Until their attempt, the published record on the 94 mile trail was 27 hours and 56 minutes.
Non-competitive ultramarathon runners Skye Thompson and Zac West forged their friendship into a critical partnership over two years of training. Things took a bitter turn at mile 60, when escalating join pain forced a decision on the pair: Continue slowly and painfully, or split up and still have a chance at breaking the record.
