Here's a highlight reel from Adidas Sickline 2008 that took place in October at Wellerbrucke Austria.

More about Adidas Sickline:
The adidas Sickline is back. In 2007 unfortunately the adidas Sickline was canceled due to a high water level. It was titled by "best kayak event without kayaking". After some changes the World’s best whitewater kayakers will meet between 1 - 5 October 2008 in Austria’s Ötztal for a special kind of challenge: adidas Sickline – the extreme Kayak World Championship. At the famous Wellerbrücke, the Ötz river holds one of the most sophisticated whitewater sections on earth, thus the perfect setting to determine the world’s best extreme kayakers.

The extreme Kayak World Championship officially starts on Wednesday, 1 October 2008 with an voluntary training on the qualifying course, following to the opening ceremony.

On Thursday, 2 October starts the qualification. Only the top 100 riders of the first qualifier advance to the second run. The top 50 extreme kayakers will then compete in the adidas Sickline finals on Saturday, 4 October. All the time around the world championship races the organisers Bernhard Mauracher and Olaf Obsommer have set up a varied program including movie nights and parties which will enthuse kayak pros and amateur visitors alike.

Online registration for the adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championship 2008 is open. The start fee is € 119,- (inclusive 19% VAT). Participating athletes must be at least 18 years old and master whitewater level 5. If a minimum of ten female kayakers sign up for the world championship, the organisers will introduce a separate category for women.

“We have been engaged in extreme kayaking since the seventies when we launched our first kayak shoe”, says Axel Burkhardt, head of adidas Global Sports Marketing Olympic Sports, Cycling and Outdoor. “Today we sponsor a team of twelve extreme kayakers from seven different countries. After various successful kayak projects like our rookie scouting event and film trip Ticket2Norway last year, adidas Sickline was the next logical step. Whitewater kayaking has come a long way and we want to create the best possible platform to present it to the world.”
