The 2008-09 FIS Snowboarding World Cup is a multi race tournament over a season for snowboarding. The season began on September 6, 2008, and finishes on March 22, 2009. The World Cup is organized by the FIS who also runs world cups and championships in cross-country skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined, alpine skiing and freestyle skiing.
In his 15th season as U.S. Snowboarding head coach, Peter Foley leads the snowboardcross athletes along with Jeff Archibald. Mike Jankowski is back for his third season as the halfpipe head coach along with U.S. Snowboarding alum Ricky Bower, a halfpipe world champion. Steve Persons, who was on the podium during U.S. Snowboarding's most successful alpine World Cup season, returns for his third season as head coach of the alpine program along with Jan Wengelin as the tech head coach.The 11th stop of the USSA FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup will take place in Moscow, Russia on February 14, 2009 in the discipline of Aerials. Both genders will compete.
