Alain Robert, the French "spiderman" skyscraper climber has been taken into custody after scaling the New York Times building in midtown Manhattan to draw attention to global warming.

During his ascent, Alain Robert unfurled a banner about global warming and his website http://www.thesolutionissimple.org/. Construction workers cheered.

Police took him into custody at the top of the new 52-story tower, designed by Renzo Piano.

In February, the daredevil, who's nicknamed "Spiderman," scaled a 42-floor building in Brazil.

Alain Robert (born August 7, 1962 in Digoin, Saône-et-Loire (71) - Bourgogne, France as Robert Alain Philippe) is a French rock and urban climber. Nicknamed after the Marvel Comics character "Spider-Man," or "The Human Spider" he is famous for scaling skyscrapers.

Robert has scaled 85 giant structures around the globe including many of the world's tallest structures, most of which he has scaled using only his bare hands and climbing shoes.
