A rather garbled reply. The longboards I build are not intended for towing by jet skis while attached to the rider by a kook cord, nor are they intended for slowly flapping in an ungainly and aimless way while attempting to act like shortboards as the foam SUP boards do. My boards are designed quite simply to be the most efficient waveriding longboards on the planet, which they are. No SUP rider has any hope of hanging on top a board and paddle at the same time so the concept is fatally flawed, relying as it does on the ghastly kook cord. I saw people in that comp actually jumping off their boards. . . a pathetic display for people who are supposed to be watermen.

The Leashes are useful when attempting to get the maximum number of waves and the jet skis help too. All of that is explained in part 2 but you were probably on your ultra fast super smooth surf board and zipped right by it. The genius of these boards, other than the beauty of the design, is this: you can stand on them on flat water not only when you slide down the wave and perform similar to a short board given the use of the paddle. If your boards fit that criteria then go to market with it and put your money where your mouth is or perhaps those boards are only in your dreams, and you sleep with your mouth open. Cheers.

Interesting, however it seems strange that even though paddling is a large part of the SUP thing they are towing them back out with jetskis. . . . also the use of leashesdoesn't fit the supposed waterman image of the SUP. What bothers me aboutSUP riding is that it isn't possible to hold on to the board and the paddle, thus the bad habit of jumping off and relying on leashesis seen here. My big boards are light years ahead of these designs, faster, smoother, and better at carving, they make these SUP's look like the slow flapping foam blobs that they are.Cheers
