Best Video Contests and Quarterly DVD Available - forums

K, what do people think about BBS offering a quarterly contest of users videos with some sort of prize or special recognition? Stats for the videos or specific voting could be used to pick winners. This could also tie into BBS offering a quarterly DVD (or direct download) of the winners and most popular videos for people to purchase. This might change the content a little as it would require legal use of music and model release forms to be properly legal but I think it would really add some high quality original videos to the site (not that things arn't great right now).

What do people think?

that sounds like a cool idea..
i think tho, only about 15% of the users here upload there own work, most just grab video's or link to other peoples stuff.
i think BBS should start with moderating content, but thats a tough one, that would pull a lot of user/viewers away if they couldn't post there youtube video finds.. yaknow?
as FAR as a BBS DVD i am down with putting out a calaberation of sorts, yaknow?

I know what you mean by there being a lot of content on BBS that is from sources other than the actual posters...particularly with the music side of things but even with many of the videos. To make the whole DVD side of things fly and legit then ya...it's gotta be original content or someones copyrights are being fd...over. So mabey that's part of the answer...the submission process should include particulars as to owners of the copyright and model/location release info. If you don't own it...you can always just post in the regular areas but a contest or DVD content has to be 100% original.

I got banned from myspace for copyright infrindgement!!!! because i didnt own the music .......LAME!!
